You pay your bills on time, you watch your balances, you paid off your car loan last year. But is that all reflected on your credit report? Or, could there be other items on your credit report that have no business being there? Because your credit report can be the key to everything from getting a loan to getting a job, it’s vitally important that the information on it is complete and correct. Oklahoma Central offers links to a number of sources for accurate, up-to-date credit information.
Did You Know...
Federal law now allows you to get a free copy of your credit report each year. To request yours, visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call toll-free, 877.322.8228. When you receive your report, check it over carefully for discrepancies, unauthorized charges or unfamiliar accounts — all possible signs of credit fraud and identity theft. If you find anything unusual, report it immediately, in writing, to the creditor.
We also highly recommend visiting the consumer section of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission Web site, at www.ftc.gov, where you'll find in-depth information on credit and identity protection, as well as guidelines for reporting problems to creditors and law enforcement authorities.
And of course, if you have questions or concerns about identity and credit protection, you can always talk with your Member Financial Officer at Oklahoma Central.
Annual Credit Report This central site allows you to request a free credit file disclosure, commonly called a credit report, once every 12 months from each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. You will be able to obtain a credit report from each company. The free credit reports do not contain your credit score. To obtain your actual credit score, there is an additional fee required by each of the companies for their respective scores.
Equifax Credit Watch Monitor credit activity, protect yourself against identity theft, view detailed status information, and learn your overall credit score.
3-in-1 Credit Report Compare credit information from all three major credit reporting agencies to make sure your information is correct all the way across the board.
